VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT:
  • As a volunteer you are expected to conform to biblical standards of behavior at all times. You are serving as a role model.
  • Do not show partiality toward any student nor share your personal political beliefs or religious beliefs.
  • Relationships between volunteers, staff, faculty members and students are to be friendly and courteous, not familial or intimate.
  • Be careful that any physical contact and verbal interchanges avoid even the appearance of impropriety (1 Peter 2:12).
  • Do not touch a student, of any age, for any reason, anywhere that would be covered by a bathing suit.
  • Any time you are with one or more students, make sure you are easily visible to the public to avoid any appearance of inappropriateness, or cause for accusations.
  • Volunteer drivers should never be alone in the car with one student.
  • Volunteers are not peers of the students, but are to exercise appropriate authority over the students.
  • Whenever possible, use positive discipline by encouraging the student to do what you expect of them rather than asking them to stop a particular behavior. For example, say “Remember to walk.” instead of “Stop running in the hallway.” Often times it can be effective to offer choices. For example, “You can wait for your turn on the swing or you can play something else.” If a child is not responding, to your directions, turn the situation over to a staff or faculty member.
  • You are obligated to report any suspected child abuse to the teacher, counselor, or superintendent. This includes, seeing suspicious wounds or bruises or concern over something a child has shared with you.
  • If you are scheduled to serve on a particular day or time, we ask that you notify the school if you are unable to keep your commitment for that date / time for any reason.
  • In the event you should ever be injured while volunteering and believe that the accident may result in an insurance claim, please notify the office immediately.
  • A background check will be requested before you are allowed to volunteer. You will have full access to the background check upon its completion. In addition, you must be willing to have a new background check run at any time one is requested.
CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT:
At times you may have access to student records and information. It is your responsibility to assure that those records and information, regardless of source or media type, remain confidential at all times. You shall under no circumstances or at any time disclose such information verbally or in writing without the express permission of MVC. Any questions regarding confidential records should be directed to the school office or the appropriate teacher. You must immediately report any breach or suspected breach of confidentiality to the school office.

By leaving your name as an e-signature on our volunteer form, you are stating that you have read these guidelines and agree to abide by them at all times.
